About Mémé Café

The moment steps are taken inside, the rustic charm of Mémé Café unfolds through thoughtfully curated decor and a cozy ambiance. Low lighting paired with exposed brick creates a warm backdrop, making it a fitting spot for leisurely conversations. The staff move with attentive ease, balancing professionalism with a friendly demeanor, though occasionally the pace during busy evenings tends to stretch longer than expected. The overall environment reflects a bistro that values comfort without sacrificing a subtle sophistication.

A dish that particularly draws attention is the house-made tartare, which arrives with a vivid freshness matched by precise seasoning. It's the kind of preparation that invites second glances and a curious palate. The menu at this restaurant achieves a commendable balance between classic bistro staples and inventive twists, accommodating both traditional tastes and more adventurous choices. Browsing Mémé Café photos online reveals a consistent presentation style—unpretentious, yet visually inviting—capturing the essence of what arrives at the table. However, while diversity in offerings is evident, occasional hits and misses suggest that the kitchen experiments with varying success.

Feedback compiled from various reviews reveals appreciation for a solid wine selection and an atmosphere conducive to lingering over more than one course. Value for money aligns well with quality, though some find the pricing slightly on the higher side for a casual bistro setting. Clarity and friendliness in service contribute positively to the overall experience, supporting why this restaurant continues to garner interest from locals and visitors alike. The balance between comfort, culinary exploration, and thoughtful hospitality places Mémé Café as a noteworthy presence in its community, even if it defies the straightforward path of a typical dining experience.

Went there for lunch. Really enjoyed the apero plate (meme), perfect mix of cultures in one plate. Couscous was also great. Great service and atmosphere, hidden gem in a small street in Waterloo.

I had a blast here with my girlfriend and her family! The food is amazing, the staff as well and cook (that we had) is one of the best I've met and I think he owns the place. So bow down to you, you're an amazing person!

Home style mediterranean cuisine. Main dishes are 25€, but it’s delicious and more than you can finish, service is very friendly. There is no menu written, waiter tells what’s on menu today, and don’t mention the prices, I find it uncomfortable, so minus one star.

My wife and I had lunch here and loved the experience. The food was incredible and you really felt like you were sitting in the chef's kitchen. When we arrived, the chef told us that the menu changes daily and that each day's menu is based on what he buys at the market each morning. I ended up ordering a veal parmesan dish and the tomato sauce that I had was honestly the best sauces that I've ever eaten. From the excellent food, the great service, homey ambiance, and incredible value, I highly recommend this place.

A neat, little Restaurant in Brussels. I first discovered this Gem when I left Café Floreo. They have some seats outside which made the stay even more pleasant. I don’t know whether they do have a Menu, but since the Owner/Chef/Waiter made pretty good suggestions I didn’t need it. As a Starter I had a plate with Hummus made from Lentils, Dark Olivepaste, some Ham (presumably San Daniele), Mozzarella with Tomatoes and some Arugula as garnish. Before that they put some delicious Bread with Olivepaste and Oliveoil on the Table. For the Main Course they suggested Tagliatelle Nero with Gambas. I had a Glass of Rosé to go with it. Everything was excellent! The Staff was very friendly and I am sure I’ll be back again! Thank you for the nice Lunch! A bientôt.

Everything tasted of truly south grown ingredients. We had fantastic carpaccios (go for the salmon one! Bestest dressing). Main quite pricy / 25€, but enough to have it next day and tasted still amazing, so worth it. Most of all the place is so special in its environment and people (btw expect to be sitting close to others though). Still so romantic!;) Btw one star down just for bad ventilation, it got smoky once the kitchen was busy cooking for full house, but probably no issue in warmer season.
